WHAT TO EXPECT - YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

How do I book a sports massage with Chris?

Either email symmetrysportsmassagestafford@outlook.com or call Chris on 07719 310544. He’ll find a date and time that works for you, and ask for your reasons for booking a sports massage - as well as any injuries or symptoms he might need to know about.

What health assessment does Chris undertake during my first session?

During your first Symmetry sports massage session, Chris will look to understand your lifestyle and medical history, before carrying out a postural analysis and range of movement assessment. These ensure Chris understands the most effective areas of your body to target with sports massage, and agree with you the best course of action in terms of a treatment plan.

What is a treatment plan?

A treatment plan is an outline of the agreed massage treatments that will be used during your booking. Chris will discuss these massage techniques with you, detailing what to expect and the muscle groups being targeted.

What should I wear for my sports massage?

It’s important you feel comfortable during a sports massage. Please wear comfy, loose-fitting clothing, as you may be required to do some gentle movement and stretching, particularly during your initial consultation. Clothing such as sport shorts, tank tops and sports bras are recommended. It’s also best to remove jewellery and accessories before your session, as these can get in the way during a massage.

Will my sports massage be painful?

This is a common misconception. A sports massage doesn’t need to be painful. It’s important to remember that communication between yourself and your sports massage therapist is key. Throughout your treatment, Chris will ask you to grade the massage pressure applied on a scale of 1 to 10, which will help stop you from experiencing any unnecessary discomfort.

How can I expect to feel after my treatment?

Everybody’s body is different, but it’s normal to experience some light bruising and soreness after a sports massage. Some can feel dehydrated too, so remember to drink plenty of water before and after your massage. Having a warm shower or bath after your treatment can help relax your muscles too, and pausing your sports training for 24 hours after the session can help maximise the effects of your sports massage as well. However, between 24 to 48 hours later, you will start to feel the full benefits.

Does Symmetry Sports Massage Stafford offer a regular sports massage package?

Yes! Chris offers two different plans - our 6-month proactive package and our 6-month performance package.
